There’s a thrilling, strong-headed DIY spirit in Liverpool’s music scene at the moment. Bands are doing exciting things, holed away in rehearsal rooms and bedrooms across the region cooking up weird, wonderful and idiosyncratic pop music with a newfound confidence.

Local promoters Everisland have pulled together a selection of artists for a well curated mini-celebration next week at the Kazimier. Essentially, it’s a showcase of all the best stuff happening in the city right now, from film to multimedia to music, with a bit of an electronic edge. And, um, toast.

Headlined by always-impressive local electronica chaps Capac, there’s also the chillingly fantastic post-pop of Loved Ones (pictured), alongside 6Music-approved Sun Drums and their epic beatscapes. Magic Youth Club, Joe Pettersen, Waxxx DJs and Supercell also make an appearance, veering between fluttering dance and pulsating rock.

It’s not just music, either: multimedia boundary-pushers Hive Collective are set to do an ‘audio visual presentation’ (we’re guessing it’s not a PowerPoint one, somehow) and Tea & Two Slice will be showing short films for the early birds, complete with – yes, really – complimentary tea and toast.

It’s an intriguing, eclectic bill, and seeing it as a cross-cultural snapshot of where the city is right now, it looks like we’ve got a hell of a lot to celebrate.
