Beth Orton & The Leisure Society at the Kazimier, 12th April

GIG After taking time off to be a mum, 90s folk starlet Beth Orton returned recently with the glorious ‘Sugaring Season’ LP. It’s a confident, mature return – taking Orton’s dreamy pop sensibilities and adding a weary Laura Marling-esque crunch. Time away from the spotlight changing nappies clearly had a positive effect, and she heads to the Kazimier this week (along with the slow-burn indie-pop of The Leisure Society) for a rare city appearance. Reasons My Son Is Crying

BLOG Tumblr’s brilliantly funny sometimes, and this new blog is our current favourite – the product of a frustrated, anonymous dad who documents every time his son cries – and why. Our individual favourites show frustration on both sides (“I wouldn’t let him drown in this pond”, the father writes with weariness, below a picture of his son bawling his eyes out).

David Bowie’s vintage videos

LEGEND To celebrate his comeback album ‘The Next Day’ (and the fantastic V&A retrospective exhibition), Davey B’s clearly been sat in front of his MacBook staring at a Vimeo progress bar. Over 30 great, classic Bowie moments have been uploaded to the video site – everything from interviews to classic promos to that dreadful/amazing 80s duet with Mick Jagger (above, for your pleasure). Spend an evening digging through.
