Menswear Dog

BLOG If you thought the internet was all about cats and LOLZ then think again – Bodhi the dog is here to show you that it’s not just felines that can rule the interweb. This strikingly handsome Shiba Inu (with a little help from owners Dave Fung and Yena Kim) has his own tumblr blog where he guides you through all the latest menswear looks. Styled and shot perfectly, like a deadpan GQ photoshoot, he’s our new pin-up. It’s just a matter of time before Bodhi gets his own underwear range and fragrance.

Table Top Racing

GAME Remember Micro Machines (the game, not the pencil-sharpener sized cars?). They’re kinda sort of back thanks to the amazing new Liverpool-made game: Table Top Racing from Playrise Digital, a few ex-Sony bods doing incredible things out of their Baltic-based Elevator studios. Play this and you’ll not see much daylight for weeks. It’s seriously brilliant. Good work boys. (and available on the App Store)

ARK02: An Exposition of Liverpool Electronica at Drop The Dumbells, 9th February

CLUBNIGHT Local promoters Deep Hedonia put on another night of forward-thinking electronic music this Saturday. Featuring bleepy local’uns like Afternaut, Bantam Lions and loads more, it’s set to be a rather packed night – showing Liverpool can do cutting-edge dance music. The city’s electronica scene has seemed fractured in the past, but it’s encouraging to see nights like this bringing everything together. Best of all – it’s only a fiver to get in. Recommended. Undistinguishable Motion at Wordsworth Trust, Grasmere

ART A bit far out of our usual SevenStreets catchment area, but this ace sounding installation, built on sound and digital media, at the gorgeous Wordsworth Trust in Grasmere is being done Sam Weihl and Dr Robert Strachan of local audio/visual wizards HIVE Collective. It’s part of a larger exhibition featuring responses to Wordsworth’s life and poetry – well worth popping in if you’re up that direction.

Library eBooks

READ Who knew: Liverpool libraries (and Wirral, come to that) offer a range of digital download eBooks, music and audio books. Great for stocking up before a weekend away, or just for your commute into work. The list isn’t massive, but it’s a neat idea, and one we’re sure will grow as the weeks go on. Find out more.

WATCH Seen the new six second video functionality for Twitter, Vine? It’s dangerously addictive. Go to the Vinepeek site and watch, in real time, six second shots of life, as they’re posted around the world. Yes, there are cats. But there’s strangeness and charm aplenty. Less is definitely more.

House coffee’s quiz night, Tuesdays

QUIZ Situated bang in the middle of Bold Street, the House quiz takes place at the recently refurbished home of Four Candles Comedy Club, downstairs at House (the new coffee/tea bar that looks a lot like Leaf). The night’s hosted by local comedy guru, Jake Mills. There’s bar staff waiting on tables for drinks orders so you don’t have to worry about missing out on any questions or people sneaking to the bar to Google what John Wayne’s real name is (Marion Michael Morrison. Obviously). To top it all off, there’s cash prizes, comedy club tickets and a few extra surprises all up for grabs. It’s what Tuesday nights were made for.
