Vogue Ball – 6th October, Camp and Furnace, £15

EVENT OK, let’s get the jokes out of the way first. Yes, it’s highly appropriate that the Vogue Ball is being held at Camp and Furnace. It’s hot, and it’s not a little bit flamboyant. It’s also the best fun ever and, this year’s theme – Twisted Fairytales – promises to be the most opulent and outrageous yet. Not for the shy and retiring. More information →

AC Newman – Shut Down The Streets

ALBUM Sublime folk-tinged pop from New Pornographers’ mainman AC Newman on his third solo outing, Shut Down The Streets. Infectious, grown up and downright gorgeous, there’s more than a whiff of AM rock about this collection (in a good way), and he’s joined by fellow Pornographer, the ace Neko Case. Listen to ‘I’m Not Talking’, above.

Sunset Seekers, 6th October, Everton Park

Rupert Everett, Vanished Years

BOOK Witty, bitchy, camp, indiscreet and intelligent (no, not a meeting of Liverpool blog editors), Rupert Everett’s first volume of memoirs, Red Carpets, recounted the 80s we all wished we lived. You get the feeling he’s not one to cross, but would be terrifically good value on a night out. His nights out – and his yearning for times past – are brilliantly retold here. And he hates Piers Morgan. That’s good enough for us. More information →

Death Grips – NO LOVE DEEP WEB

ALBUM The sound of your soul exploding into a million pieces, Los Angeles hip-hop punks Death Grips got so fed up with their major label deal at Sony that they’ve just leaked their new record on Twitter. Good on ’em. It’s a complete barrage: the heaviest, angriest, most relentless rap you’ve ever heard. Sonic warfare in your headphones. Streaming on Soundcloud →
