The folks at Liverpool Radical Film Festival (which we very much enjoyed last October) are back for a one-off special at the wonderful Small Cinema space in the city’s Business District. This time, they’ve brought with them the powerful ‘Vanguard of a Revolution’ documentary, detailing the Black Panther Party’s cultural and political history and impact. Legendary black history documentarian Stanley Nelson splices together some pretty epic archive footage, as well as interviews with the people on the ground: members, informants, cops, and many more who had interest, involvement – or even dislike – for the group.
