It’s official, London 2012 have accepted Stanley Street’s Sports Day, tomorrow, as an authorised Olympic Event. All of which means, for the first time (we think) in Olympic history, men will put on their best frocks and run to raise money for poorly kids.

Everyone’s invited. But if you’re under 18, you have to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Yeah, your dad in a Matalan maxi dress.

That’s got to be better than Team GB’s football, hasn’t it?

The Liverpool Drag Race (see what they did there?) is being launched by someone from Desperate Scousewives. But apart from that it looks like being a brilliant addition to the city that gave you 1,000s of manic scouse Santas parading through the streets at Christmas, and if the launch pictures are anything to go by, it’s set to be quite a spectacle. There’s talk of it being an annual event, too. We just hope our gents have invested in some snug sports briefs, or there’ll be even more eye-popping scenes down Stanley Street than usual this weekend.

The race starts tomorrow at 11.30. Register at Liverpool Drag Race now, there’s still time. Registration costs £15 with all proceeds going to the wonderful Claire House, in Clatterbridge. A cause dear to our (and your) hearts. As you know.

Throughout the day there’ll also be a tug of war, Zumba classes, football and basketball sessions with the amazing Toxteth Tigers.
