What do you get when one of the best venues in the city puts on a mammoth sale? Er, a load of great shows for just £1, that’s what.

For just one day, the Phil’s offering up a selection of shows for the recession-busting price of 100 pence, and a quick glance at the listings confirms there’s a few brilliant ones in there: indie legends Tindersticks, Anoushka Shankar and a host of Royal Liverpool Philmarmonic Orchestra gigs too.

The best thing about a sale like this is it’s easy to take a punt. Never thought you fancied watching the RLPO doing West Side Story and Barber’s Adagio for Strings? You probably would if you could get a ticket for less than the bus fare into town.

You’ll have to be quick, though – there’s 100 sale tickets available for each event, and you’ll need to buy them in person from the box office (located on Hope Street, if you’ve not been before). It all kicks off this Sunday 11th September at 12pm, finishing up at 3pm.
