Launching a box set of genre-popping brilliance, The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus are playing a rare and hotly anticipated gig tonight at Leaf’s Water Street HQ. The band’s haunting, difficult, beautiful and angsty incursions were Probe Plus at its most wilful and hard-to-pin-down. Blending Eastern European folk, gospel, art school noodling and Kraut rocky industrial beats they’re like KLF with added liturgy, and Gothic curlicues. They’re here for one night only, and we imagine it’s going to be Biblical. The reformation, then: a schism with a soundtrack you might find tricky to dance to.
