In a year when the bass-heavy, off kilter beats of dubstep finally broke into the mainstream, London duo Mount Kimbie have already managed to take its blueprint into weird, wonderful and epic new directions.
Acclaimed debut album ‘Crooks & Lovers’ is coated in washes of ambient electronica, Sigur Ros-esque guitar and brittle, ghostly beats: a fresh take on the genre’s crowd-pleasing wobbles and breaks.
Having played festivals the world over this summer, they finally hit Liverpool later in October. Their forward-thinking electronica might not exactly be stuffed with banging party tunes, but their totally engrossing ‘gadgets ‘n’ guitars’ live set more than makes up for it. Listen to the stunning ‘Maybes’, above, for a taster.
