A single man with more atmospheric disturbances in his kit bag than Michael Fish and a broken barometer, Jethro Fox comes complete with spine-tingling breakdowns, thick reverb-soaked percussion and shimmering National guitar washes. That, in anyone’s money, is a bloody gorgeous recipe. Now all you gotta do is sit back and listen to 3 minutes 45 seconds of his Soundcloud offering,’Before’. Do it now.

“The project’s pretty new and Before is the first proper song I’ve recorded with my friend Tarek Musa (of Kankouran). It’s been featured a couple of times on BBC Merseyside Introducing and has been picked up by a number of UK and US blogs which I’m over the moon about,” Jethro tells us. Well here’s another one to add to his pleasure (although are we a blog, or a website? Hmmm. Enough navel gazing.)

The perfect winter’s evening onesie. It’ll fit you like a big warm wall of, erm, wool? Where are we going with this? (end)

NEW: Jethro’s recently hooked up for a duet straight out of our prayer book. A duet with the Nordic church itself. Suitably Scandinavian and stripped back, this is Before as a winter hymnal. And we love it.

Before, Jethro Fox
