Liverpool has some amazing venues when you think about it. How many other cities can stage gigs in a rich industrialist’s underground catacombs; sugar silos or a refuge for Scandivanian sailors?
Not many, obviously. We’ve been gratified to hear that the future of the Swedish Church – henceforth to be known as the Nordic Church – has been secured from the unlikely schemes of the Church of Sweden, and now there’s an excellent way to celebrate in the shape of Friend or Foe tonight, returning for the third instalment of showcasing some of Liverpool’s best talent.
The line-up includes the psychedelic space pop of Esa; 6Music faves Legends of Flight; the ubiquitous Scott Russell with a number of friend, including Ross Charnock from The Sun Electric; and Gary Daly.
Soup and cake will be served and it’s a BYO thing on the booze front (remember how those nights at Saint Brides used to be?).
The acts suggest an excellent synthesis of venue and music, so we recommend braving the peculiar Baltic Triangle and seek sanctuary among good music and good people.
