Radar: David Morrissey visits Crosby

David Morrissey is switching on Crosby's Xmas lights and introducing a showing of his 2009 film Don't Worry About Me

The frequent arrival of a famous homegrown actor in Liverpool reminds us how blessed the region is with local talent.

This Christmas David Morrissey – he of Doctor Who, The Deal and, er, Basic Instinct 2 – will be switching Crosby’s Christmas tree lights on and popping into the Plaza Community Cinema for a screening of his Liverpool-set film Donʼt Worry About Me, preceded by a Q+A.

The film was produced by Morrissey’s production company and feature scenes shot amongst Anthony Gormley’s iron men on Crosby’s beach.

We like to do our bit to support the Waterloo cinema – and the north end’s ABetterCrosby group, who rallied troops and ensured they got a Christmas tree when the council pleaded poverty – so commend both these events to you.

Proceeds from the screening will go to the ʻChristmas in Crosbyʼ lights appeal and the Plazaʼs appeal for a digital re-fit. How’s that for Christmas spirit?

Christmas tree lights switch-on and Don’t Worry About Me screening
From 3.00pm (lights switch-on at 6pm; Don’t Worry About Me showing from 7.30pm), 2 December
Crosby; Plaza Community Cinema
