Instead of queuing up for a lukewarm chicken sandwich in Tesco Metro, how about delving into one of the city’s best kept secrets at lunchtime? We’re big fans of Liverpool University school of music’s concert seasons, now in the rather lovely surrounds of the Leggate lecture theatre at the Victoria & Albert Gallery. The series of concerts explores jazz, classical, folk, choral and everything in between and is a totally brilliant no-commitment way to get a shot of culture on a dull winter day. The coming months see Eastern European klezma, Chinese traditional and big-voiced opera all take centre stage. Best of all? Totally free. Take a punt.
