American duo A Hawk And A Hacksaw have quietly become one of the greatest folk bands in the world, and we’re chuffed to hear they’re coming to Liverpool this summer. Somehow managing to maintain a fanbase that’s equally divided between ‘world music’ aficionados and beard-stroking indie dweebs, their unique Eastern European-influenced folk veers between lilting Balkan stirrings and euphoric Mariachi stomps. It’s certainly not as raucus (or popular) as the likes of Gogol Bordello, but it’s just as fantastic. Even better, the gig’s being held at our favourite “is it a ballroom or is it a 1950s Romanian junk shop?” venue the Kazimier, so it’s the perfect pairing of band and surroundings. Local avant garde gang a.P.A.t.T. support. Don’t miss this one. 4th August The Kazimier, Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool Posted July 24, 2010 Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply.
