The city’s not short of great clubnights, but over the past year Abandon Silence has carved itself an impressive niche amongst clued-in music fans in the region. Its remit: the most exciting electronic, dubstep, post-dubstep and post-post-post-dubstep (probably): basically, anything that’s fresh, electronic and great. SBTRKT, James Blake and Mount Kimbie have all made appearances in the past, which should give you an idea of what to expect.
Now moored over at The Shipping Forecast, its forthcoming season of nights is looking mightily impressive. Always-on-the-pulse Hessle Audio label boss Ben UFO rocks up on 13th October, expert Rinse FM jockey Oneman (pictured) on 27th October, and Pearson Sound/Ramadanman brings his minimal, jerky brilliance to Slater Street on 10th November. There’s a smattering of great local talent too, with Dauwd, Merseyside Acid Committee and Rich Furness all making supporting appearances.
Best of all, the lineups are always wallet-friendly – expect to pay a fiver advance for most of the nights. Cheap, friendly and forward-thinking? It’s what the best clubbing experiences are made of.
