Stuart Price at Chibuku/Shipping Forecast

The man with a thousand aliases, Stuart Price, is coming to set the Hold alight this month, as his alter-ego, Jacques lu Cont. Stephanie Heneghan is a little bit excited.

Stuart Price is a busy man.  From winning Grammy awards for his production expertise on albums for Madonna, to being on remix duties for Armand Van Helden, Royksopp and whoever else requires fiddling with, as well as occasionally releasing his own material, I bet he’s got the kind of Outlook calendar that would make even the most organised cookie cry hot tears first thing on a Monday morning.  Hell, Stuart Price is so busy he can’t even find time to do it all under one name, instead creating a host of alter egos including Les Rythmes Digitales, Man With Guitar and the Thin White Duke.

However it’s under his Jacques Lu Cont nom de plume that the man with more aliases than Mr Benn is performing as on the 20th August at the Shipping Forecast.  To celebrate their first party in The Hold, Chibuku have nabbed one of the hottest properties in music to come down and spin a few discs, proving once again that there’s very few people who can say no to the pulling power of Chibuku.

On a personal note I am extremely excited about this being a bit of a fan girl.  I’ve raved to him dropping French House and Electro in the now defunct (but never forgotten) Bugged Out and will happily bang on about his amazing production work for hours, he is my favourite pop producer of the last ten years, and a genius at creating fresh sounds for well established artists.  Seriously, Confessions on a Dancefloor is about as good as Madonna has been for aeons.  Have you heard what he did to Take That? And Invisible Light on the recent Scissor Sisters album is basically what you find if you look up ‘Poppers O’Clock’ on wikipedia.

So with that in mind it’s safe to say I’ll be in attendance on the 20th, along with 200 others.  This is a very limited ticket show and with support in the form of local lad James Rand, fresh from his much lauded gig at Global Gathering, the chances of any tickets being left on the door are about as strong as my chances of pulling David Gandy.
