On The Threshold: News of this year’s Festival…

For Threshold Festival 2013, MelloMello have teamed up with kindred Manchester spirits Debt Records to take over The Picket on Saturday 9th March. A pairing, Festival Director Chris Herstad Carney thinks, that’s long overdue.

“I’ve worked with both camps for a little while now and there has already been some crossover, such as Louis Barabbas playing at Free Rock’n'Roll last year, but I really think the two are a great match of similar values that needs to be built on.”

The new two stage system at the venue will host a combination of Liverpool and Manchester acts including the superb Richard Barry & The Chaps, Pete Bentham & The Dinner Ladies, new electronic-folk duo Walk, The Science of The Lamps, the legend that never went to Eric’s, Gerry Potter and of course the incumbent kings & queens of improvised comedy, Impropriety.

No MelloMello experience would be complete without the organic veggie delights of chef Jo Shelbourne and her pop up kitchen first seen at Threshold Festival 2012. And, as ever, much, much more awaits when the Festival opens in two weeks’ time.

Before all that, though, this weekend, Liverpool will be transformed into a butterfly wilderness this Sunday (24 Feb) when lepidoptera artwork will be hidden in secret locations, thanks to Threshold Festival’s chosen charity,North West Cancer Research (their emblem is the Holly Blue butterfly).

“The first people to find each piece of artwork will win a pair of weekend tickets to Threshold Festival so Sunday,” Chris explains.

The butterfly hunt takes from across Liverpool city centre from 11.30am on Sunday 24th February with the first people to find each artwork winning a pair of tickets to Threshold Festival. After the Butterfly Hunt is over, all artwork will be auctioned during Threshold Festival to raise money for North West Cancer Research.
