The Guardian’s Dead Good Liverpool Video

Marcel Theroux heads up to our white-out city and retires to the heat of the Palm House to write his first poem...

It’s uncanny how similar Marcel Theroux sounds to his brother. Actually, it’s not really, they’re brothers. But take a look at the gorgeous new Guardian video, shot on a snowy day last week in and around Sefton Park in a blizzard. “I feel like I’m in a poem, rather than having to write one,” Theroux says, of his task: to get lyrical ahead of Leaf’s open poetry evening. The event, despite the weather, was a heartening affirmation of the city’s continuing love with the rhythms and rhymes of verse. “Poetry,” says Theroux, “requires balls.”

It’s a great watch. Have look here. Whether Phil Bowen knows what iambic pentameter is, though, is a moot point.
