Liverpool Sound City announces first 2013 acts

The inner city music festival announces its first selection for this year, including the rather brilliant Walkmen.

Yes, we know it’s only January, but festival announcements start early nowadays, granddad. Liverpool Sound City’s back this spring, and it’s promising to be the biggest and best yet. Hooray! Coupled with the fact Liverpool Music Week’s set to head back in the autumn, as well as Africa Oyé and all the summer goodness, we’re going to be spoiled for brilliant music events right throughout 2013.

Today (16th January) Sound City have announced a first wave of acts for this year’s fest, and it’s, as usual, a nice start: a mixture of buzzed-about newcomers and indie veterans. The rather-bloody-amazing The Walkmen (one of the best live bands around, ‘FYI’), Egyptian Hip Hop, Toy and Reverend and the Makers all head up the first announcement. They’re joined by noisy scamps Hawk Eyes, hyped-as-hell Swim Deep, Fossil Collective, and Murkage.

Wristbands are on sale now, should you wish to bag your place early. Stay tuned to SevenStreets for more announcements over the coming months. It’s going to be good.
