Support the Support: WTU with Bolshy

A full on funk ska meltdown approaches this Thursday, as We The Undersigned and friends set the O2 Academy alight.

Support the support – for that’s where you’ll see many of the city’s best, and hardest working bands doing the circuit. Plus, you get more bang for your buck, and stay one step ahead of that fickle parabolic curve of cool. “Oh yeah, Knapsack? I saw them when they were supporting Archers of Loaf back in 91,” you can post with smug pride to your dwindling Facebook followers.

Oh, ok – there is another reason: get in early and bar prices are ridiculously low, too.

Anyway, back to reality. This Thursday, SevenStreets favourites (or Church Street pests – as my mum calls buskers who prevent her from going in a straight line from Primark to Marksies) are supporting the equally thrilling We The Undersigned (yes, they’re our favourites too) with their spacey reggae and funky ska. Also on the bill, the ragged hip-hop collective Fire Beneath The Sea bring their beats to town.

Bolshy kick off at half seven. Go, support, dance to ‘A Message to you, Rudy’ played by kids who were born after even The Fun Boy Three called it a day. Then you’ll be nicely warmed up for the Undersigned crew.

Sounds like a strategy?

We The Undersigned,
Bolshy, Fire Beneath the Sea.
