Radar: Kailash Kher at the Philharmonic

Something new to us. 'Revered' Indian singer Kailash Kher at the Philharmonic - we have reason to believe it will be good.

We’ll be honest. Kailash Kher is a new one to us. But that’s what we’re all about really. Sure, we want to tell you about the stuff we already know we like, but what about the stuff we don’t know if we like yet?

Before this gets into Donald Rumsfeld ‘we don’t know what we don’t’ intangibles, let’s just say that the Philharmonic has got Kailash Kher with band Kailasa playing next week.

We’re told Kher is a “revered singer, lyricist and composer” who’s doing fairly well for himself in India. He’s a judge on Indian Idol and sings at the IPL (the country’s monstrously successful cricket biffathon) so clearly he’s doing something right in his native country.

Kher is in town as part of Milapfest – something that, regrettably always passes us by somewhat. As well as this gig at the Phil there’s also plenty more at the lovely Capstone over the next few months

Will we like it? Will you like it? We don’t know – but it’s good to move out of a comfort zone once in a while eh?

Here’s a taste of what you can expect:
