Radar: Fanfarlo at Static

With more instruments than Curly's warehouse, Fanfarlo return with their infectious hands-across-the-Baltic bag of tunes. We're going, you should too.

They make such a joyous noise it’s criminal Anglo-Swedes Fanfarlo aren’t bigger than they are. It might have something to do with the fact that, live, they are a mixed bag. Sometimes hurdy-gurdies, musical saws and Swedish harps don’t always cut it in the sweatboxes of small venues. And yet they still offer more musicality, inventiveness and fun than your average eclectic gigging ensemble.

With a new album, Rooms Full of Light, to promote, they’re back on the road, and back in town (they last appeared as support slot for someone. Buggered if we can remember who. Anyone…?)

We still think they’re made for auditoria across the globe. But, then, we think that about Ra Ra Riot. And we’ve been wrong before. But go see them, at their bewildering, raggedy and unpredictable best next month, thanks to Harvest Sun. Support from Cardiff’s answer to Peter, Bjorn and John, Race Horses.
